Wendy is a senior-level, empathetic communications leader with experience managing both internal and external communications. She excels at creating editorial and social media content, public relations and corporate communications in challenging environments to help meet corporate objectives.
Before joining Merryman Communications, Wendy most recently served as an account director at Syneos Health, providing counsel to clients in the dermatological, nutraceutical and biotechnology industries. Wendy also spent nearly 10 years managing internal employee communications for the Human Resources departments at The Capital Group and The Aerospace Corporation. Projects ranged from developing communications for change management and employee retention programs, managing open enrollment communications and crafting web content focused on building employee morale, recruitment and talent retention.
Prior to applying her expertise to the finance and aerospace industries, Wendy was an internal contractor. One of her main clients was the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation for which she established a social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube), planned, edited and wrote articles for a bi-monthly e-newsletter, and developed press releases and print/marketing communications.
Spending her early career developing and honing her account management and media relations skills, Wendy served as the media relations manager at FischerHealth, a boutique healthcare PR agency, providing media outreach to medical device, technology and life sciences clients.
Wendy recognizes that journalism and PR are not mutually exclusive but rely on each other to shape stories. She is a passionate relationship-builder and a collaborative team player. She earned a master's degree from the University of Southern California, School of Journalism, and a B.A. in communications from the State University of New York at Oswego.
