Jim is a versatile, award-winning and highly-skilled writer, researcher and thinker. A former business reporter who covered the medical device and healthcare industry for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, he specializes in science, medical and healthcare writing and editing for a wide variety of clients. Jim’s deep writing experience includes white papers and research reports, thought leadership, digital content, opinion pieces, storytelling, bylines, key messaging and speechwriting.
During his long tenure at Weber Shandwick, Jim was a charter member of Element, the agency's global science communications team and was a writer of long-form narratives, scientific articles, feature stories, editorial commentaries, science writers’ guides, blogs and other materials focused on science and health topics. His clients included a variety of medical professional associations, hospitals, medical device companies, pharmaceutical companies and state agencies including UnitedHealthcare, Children’s Hospitals Minnesota, Genentech and the Medtronic Foundation, among others.
Jim received his M.A. in journalism and communications from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. in English from Carleton College.
