Emily Tao is an art director with more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She has consistently exceeded client's expectations and is capable of taking projects from initial concept to final production on time and within budget. Emily's style is known to be clean, simple and corporate. She is skilled in art direction research, competitive analysis, artwork development and final production to print shop.
Emily has worked with Merryman Communications since the firm's very beginnings. She developed brand identity standards for clients including Nikkiso America and the I-PASS Patient Safety Institute, including logo redesign, guidelines for stationary, photography direction, sales sheet designs and tradeshow booth designs. Other projects include creating infographics and social media graphics, among many other things.
Emily started her graphics design career at eToys.com as a web designer, and she became skilled in web page design, photo retouching, graphic illustration and packaging. Later, she joined Strausberg Group, a boutique advertising agency, where she focused on promotional print and web designs for clients that included AAA Travel, Auberge Resorts, Renaissance Hotels, La Quinta Resort, Viceroy Hotel Group, Coldwell Banker and Marina Del Rey visitor's bureau. Emily's experience included brochure design, fliers, direct mail campaigns, magazine advertisements, billboards, collateral, email blasts and flash animations.
At Porter Novelli, Emily worked as an art director in the healthcare practice. Not only was she responsible for developing brand identity, signage, stationery and websites, but Emily also managed graphic design for clients, including Medtronic, Guidant, Humana, Ethicon Endo-Surgery (a Johnson & Johnson company), St. Vincent Medical Center and American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Design projects included trade show booths, digital marketing, webpage banner ads, social media graphics, marketing inserts, Powerpoint presentations and WordPress websites. Her work won several awards, including from the Public Relations Society of America in Los Angeles and nationally.
Emily is an art director with business sense. She received a business degree in marketing from University of Southern California and earned her degree in computer graphic design from UCLA. Her tools include Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat and Dreamweaver.
